This talented 22-year-old from Santa Rosa, California, brings a unique blend of speed and grit to our classics squad. With an impressive six wins already under his belt, including a stage victory at the Czech Tour, Luke is ready to take on the world's toughest races.
But here's where it gets controversial... Luke's journey to the top isn't just about his natural talent. It's a story of determination and a love for the sport that began on the dirt bike tracks of Sonoma County.
"I fell in love with the freedom of exploring my home roads on a bike," Luke shares. "It was a natural progression from motocross to cycling, and I'm grateful for the skills and passion it instilled in me."
And this is the part most people miss: Luke's motocross background gave him an edge in the highly competitive youth races, leading him to represent the USA on the international stage. He raced with top junior teams and even earned a spot on Trinity Racing, where he crossed paths with some of his future EF Education-EasyPost teammates.
"Moving to Europe and committing to a pro lifestyle was a big step," Luke admits. "But the transition was smoother than I expected. I felt at home with the team, and the results started coming."
Now, Luke is ready to take his career to new heights with EF Education-EasyPost. Our founder and CEO, Jonathan Vaughters, sees Luke as a versatile rider with leadership qualities. "He's a great sprinter and classics rider, and his ability to read race tactics is exceptional. We'll be relying on him for our cobbled races and as a mentor to our up-and-coming sprinter, Noah Hobbs."
Luke's own vision aligns with this. "I see myself as a punchy sprinter who can excel in the classics and sprint finishes. Races like Milano-Sanremo are my dream, and I want to go for more grand tour stages in the future."
But it's the classics that truly ignite Luke's passion. "The excitement from start to finish is unparalleled. I can't wait to tackle Belgium's bergs with my teammates. The fans and cycling culture there are incredible!"
