With The Challenger gone, the Charger going electric, the Mustang adopting a less than stellar aesthetic (Darkhorse and Mach-E), and the Camaro MIA – What’s left for muscle car fans? Are no internal combustion engine (ICE) vehicles rocking monstrous horsepower in a sleek style that doesn’t resemble a semi-melted jelly bean left on the market?
It would seem that all hope is lost for classic muscle car enthusiasts – Until they lay eyes on the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS.
Why the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Matters
One of the most exciting muscle cars of all time, a 1970 Chevy Chevelle SS 454 can sell for anywhere from $75,000 to $237,000. The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS is a modern reimagining of one of these 70s pony car icons.
Sporting various trim options, the Chevelle 70/SS oozes personality; the folks at TransAm Worldwide (a Tallahassee, Florida-based manufacturer that specializes in bringing the most famous American muscle cars of the past roaring back to life as modern vehicles) have outdone themselves with this one.
According to TransAm Worldwide, 2024 Chevelle 70/SS prices will start at a cool $175,000. It may be expensive, but remaining and bringing a classic back to life in a new age is worth the price to muscle car enthusiasts.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS will rev up the American muscle car market. Using current information from manufacturer TransAm Worldwide, here are ten reasons why the Chevelle 70/SS will reinvigorate the American muscle car market this year.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Is Homage Done Right
Anyone familiar with the current Ford Mustang knows this vehicle’s style is a far cry from the Shelby Mustang of the 60s, and while the 2024 Mustang is a fine car in its way, it can’t compete with the beautifully done homage of the Chevelle 70/SS. Its exterior looks like a spitting image of its 1970s ancestor, and it’s all the better for it.
At first glance, it’s easy for someone to mistake the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS for a car that rolled off the assembly line in 1970 and then drove through a time machine to appear before us today, but it’s modern manufacturing at its finest. Its long hood sets the tone, harkening back to how automakers designed muscle cars during their heyday.
Its headlamps and taillights are 70s-era-inspired in style, completing the classic look. First impressions are significant, and TransAm Worldwide designed the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS to make an unforgettable first impression.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Is Modern in the Right Ways
While old-school muscle cars look and sound incredible, their interiors are very uncomfortable. However, TransAm Worldwide fixed this issue with the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS by revamping the vehicle’s interior with modern touches.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS comes with fully functional air-conditioning, seats that won’t give someone back problems, and a modern steering wheel with all the button functions consumers have come to expect. TransAm Worldwide also put a sleek modern screen in the middle of the dash and stylish, retro speedometers, making for a very pleasing design.
While all these modern touches are present, the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS interior still has a retro feel, significantly aided by the SS badging on the seats. Overall, the Chevelle 70/SS interior nails the perfect mix of modern flourishes and retro touches to please muscle car enthusiasts.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Also Sports a Modern Infotainment System
While TransAm Worldwide has been scarce in revealing further details about technological add-ons for the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS, given the vehicle’s hefty $175,000 price tag, they have likely added features to enhance the car’s overall driving experience. Photos on their website indicate that the Chevelle 70/SS will come with a modern touchscreen infotainment system and intuitive driver-assistance features.
Logically, if the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS sports a touchscreen infotainment system, it will also come with voice control and Bluetooth features. So, the Chevelle 70/SS cabin will have a modern feeling due to its features and functionality. However, TransAm Worldwide has outfitted the vehicle’s cockpit with enough retro touches to make it feel different. It’s an excellent example of old meeting new to create a muscle car experience unlike any other.
There Will Be a Special Edition Ls6x
The Limited Edition LS6X, of which there will be only 25 units available, will have a starting price of around $250,000, according to a report from Hot Cars. It’s highly exclusive, with various color options ranging from heritage shades, which also come with different color strip options, like Forrest Green and Phantom Blue, to modern colors like Ash Gray and Wild Cherry Tintcoat. In all, TransAm Worldwide lists 90 different color options for the vehicle.
The Limited Edition LS6X will also feature a full-carbon fiber body, painted graphics, a cowl induction hood, upgraded suspension, rear differential, upgraded axles, and oversized breaks. Did we mention that the Limited Edition LS6X with all of the above will also feature 1,500 horsepower? Along with its retro interior that TransAm Worldwide adorned with modern features, the LS6X will come with various wheel options. It’s going to be a collector car for the ages.
The New Chevelle 70/SS Only Makes the Original More Iconic
According to Sports Car Market, a Chevelle L6 convertible has sold for as much as $1,242,000, a record for Chevelle sales. Over the past few years, Chevelles have sold for anywhere from $53,350 to $270,000, depending on their condition. They’re very prestigious cars for collectors to invest in.
Throwing the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS into the mix with its fantastic blend of new technology with old-school designs will increase the Chevelle name’s prestige. Especially with the Limited Edition LS6X that can generate up to 1,500 horsepower, the market will buzz when these cars debut.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Will Mix Things Up With Different Body Styles
Of course, the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS will come available with a hardtop body; it’s the body style gearheads usually wear when buying classic muscle cars — the reason for this being that hardtop body styles have rigid chassis. TransAm Worldwide stated that the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS would be available in hard and soft-top convertible body styles.
Anyone familiar with TransAm Worldwide’s work knows that the automaker has an affinity for soft-top convertible body styles, as evidenced by their previous work on the Pontiac Firebird Bandit that paid homage to the vehicle that debuted in the 1977 movie Smokey and the Bandit. TransAm Worldwide also made a soft top convertible edition of the Pontiac GTO. TransAm Worldwide’s GTO and Bandit editions were so popular with car enthusiasts that they sold out.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Will Have Three Different Drive Modes
Drivers can switch between the three drive modes that the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS offers to suit their mood. Sport Mode allows the driver to improve the 70/SS’s throttle, making the vehicle’s handling more responsive. Sport Mode can also adjust transmission shift points so gear shifts are quicker and more aggressive. The original 1970 Chevelle could not do that, so in this way, TransAm Worldwide has improved upon the original car.
Next is comfort Mode, which is ideal for long trips and drivers who enjoy feeling the car as they cruise along. Comfort Mode softens the car’s suspension to achieve this, allowing for the smoothest and most comfortable ride possible. Last is Eco Mode, which prioritizes the Chevelle’s fuel efficiency.
Regarding Safety, the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Leaves Previous Muscle Cars in the Dust
While classic American Muscle Cars have always been exciting, their safety features did not match their performance capabilities or eye-catching styling. At their worst, they were death traps on wheels. If they had been cruising around in American muscle cars back in the day, our grandparents would not have been rolling around in the 1970 Chevy Nova from Quentin Tarantino’s Death Proof, as cool as that would have been.
Thankfully, TransAm Worldwide has updated the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS with modern safety features like proper airbags, stability control systems, and modern braking technology so that customers who purchase the 70/SS will have a safe driving experience.
The 2024 Chevelle 70/SS Rocks a 450 6.2-Liter Lt-1 V8 Engine
The 1970 Chevelle SS came with a 250 cubic-inch six-cylinder engine with 155 horsepower or a 307 cubic-inch V8 with 200 horsepower. Those numbers made it one of the most powerful American cars of the 1970s.
1970 was a turning point for vehicles under General Motors’ control because that year is when the company started pushing past the 400 cubic-inch threshold on their engines. It led to the introduction of three 402 cubic-inch V8 engines that generated 330, 250, and 375 horses. Additionally, there was an LS5 with a 454 cubic-inch V8 that produced 360 horsepower, and an LS6 option that pushed the envelope with 450 horsepower!
Compare those numbers to the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS, which comes standard with a 6.2-liter LT-1 V8 Engine that generates 450 horsepower. Of course, engine upgrades are available for the 70/SS, such as a supercharged version that generates up to 675 horsepower. And that’s not even the most powerful engine option that someone can get with the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS! Remember the Special Edition LS6X?
The Special Edition ls6x Trim Can Take on a Bugatti
That’s right. TransAm Worldwide has made the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS 454 LS6X Limited Edition capable of going toe to toe, wheel to wheel, with the hallowed Bugatti Chiron. This trim has a monstrous, supercharged V8 engine that generates 900 horses. But, if someone wants more power, they can purchase the Twin Turbo option that produces an extra 100 ponies. However, if someone still wants even more power, the tuned Twin Turbo for the LS6X Limited Edition trim can generate 1,500 horsepower!
A 2022 Bugatti Chiron Super Sport generates 1,578 horsepower and 1,180 pound-feet of torque. While the LS6X Limited Edition trim’s torque output is not yet available, it’s clear from its horsepower that the Limited Edition is ready to challenge the Bugatti Chiron. Well, there you have it. Not only does the 2024 Chevelle 70/SS offer an exciting mix of classic aesthetics and modern features, but its Limited Edition boasts enough power to take on a hypercar. Muscle cars will never be the same after this bad boy hits the market.
